Predictive dialer vs power dialer: which one?

Both auto-dial. The difference is how many calls they ring per available agent. Predictive misuses get you in trouble with Ofcom; power dialing rarely does.

Under Ofcom's Persistent Misuse policy, UK predictive dialing must keep the rate of abandoned calls (rings answered before an agent is free) below 3% of live answered calls in any 24-hour period.

Recommended starting point

If you are running outbound sales for the first time, start with a power (progressive) dialer at a low ratio: it is faster than manual dialling, abandons nothing, and gives your team a feel for outbound rhythm before you consider predictive.

What you cannot do, in any mode

• Robocall residential numbers without prior consent (PECR).

• Dial 999 from a dialer campaign — operator-side block.
